SILENCE WITHIN THOUGHT

Thought settled.
Silence manifested.

Silence is not the absence of sound. It is the space that remains when everything else begins to settle.

For many years, I have looked to the landscape for this space. A road disappearing into the distance. A river moving quietly through the land. Light resting between trees. A horizon softened by atmosphere.

These are familiar scenes, yet they often hold something beyond what is immediately seen. In painting them, I am less interested in describing a place than in observing what happens within it.

Colour, light, atmosphere and space become a way of slowing down. Forms are simplified. Details fall away. What remains is often a feeling, a memory, or a thought that has not yet found words.

With Silence Within Thought, I continue this exploration while allowing the work to move beyond the landscape I have long been known for. Colour becomes more present. Space becomes less certain. The familiar begins to shift.

Perhaps silence is not empty after all.

Perhaps it is where thought begins to settle.
